"dating websites" i suggested to my friend Cara. She looked skeptical. "But aren't they just full of jerks wanting a fuck? There's no one on them for proper relationships!". I shrugged, she was probably right. Cara had just been dumped by her boyfriend. She was completely heart-broken, and we were trying to think of ways for her to get over him. "Maybe that's what you need!" I said suddenly. "Maybe you do just need someone for a quick fuck to get over Alex, and then you can sort out a proper relationship later." Cara shook her head and signedn "Come on Cara!" I said encouragingly, "Cheer up! Lets make a list - what exactly are you looking for in a guy?". She had a thoughtful expression on her face when she looked up, and started reeling off a list of qualitiesfor her perfect boyfriend. "He has to be strong, so I feel safe with him" she began. "He has to appreciate my music and not laugh at it or anything". Cara played the violin, and not many guys she had met had liked her practicing. "He has to make me smile and be able to cheer me up." suddenly she stopped and frowned. "Whats wrong?" i asked her softly. She looked up unhappily "There's no point in this, everything I'm listing is just like Alex! I'll never find anyone that is half as perfect as him!" I sighed, and thought of the next line of attack. "What is it you want most?" I asked her when she looked ready to talk again. "What is the thing you ultimately want from a boyfriend?". She sniffed and answered slowly "I want someone to adore." She said shyly,"and I want him to adore me back! I want to be able to trust him and enjoy being with him. I want him to steal my heart and never give it back - but that would be OK because I'd have his heart in return..." She stopped and suddenly looked embarrassedas ifshe had said too much. I reached out and gave her a hug. "You'll find him" I murmured softly, as I stroked her hair. "He does exist, and he's out there waiting for you! You just need to find him." Cara smiled and looked gratefully at me, as if she didn't expect people to say such things to her. "Come on" I said briskly as I stood up. "Lets not sit here moping! Lets get out there and find him! Lets go and find you a dream guy to adore!". She stood up shakilynext to me. "Go on" I said encouragingly. "Go and put on your best dress Cara - I'm taking you out tonight, we're going guy hunting!". The enthusiasm in my voice seemed to effect her, and she stood taller, smiled, turned and ran upstairs to get changed.
